Ronny Krishana
Chair

Ronny Krishana has focused his career on helping to bring novel therapeutic drugs that address unmet medical needs to patients. Ronny is currently a

Principal and the Head of International Investments at Baker Brothers Advisors (since 2011). Baker Brothers is focused on long-term investments in life sciences companies. Prior to becoming an investor, Ronny was in a variety of biopharmaceutical strategy, business development, and commercial leadership roles at Pfizer; which he joined in 2003. Ronny started his career as a strategy consultant for Accenture in 1995. Ronny majored in Economics and Political Science at Brown University and has a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School. Ronny lives in New York City with his wife and two daughters.

Robin Bramwell-Stewart
Vice Chair

Robin Bramwell-Stewart serves as the Assistant Director for Capital Planning for the Project Management Office within the Port Authority of New York

and New Jersey. In this role, she is responsible for development, management and oversight of the Agency’s $32 billion capital plan. Robin has served in a number of roles since arriving at the Port Authority in 2008. Prior to taking her current role in December of 2016, she was the Manager of Manager of Policy and Strategic Planning for the Port Department where she worked to develop business and strategic plans and initiatives for the business. She is a graduate of Howard University and Brooklyn Law School.

Michael Jaconi
Vice Chair

Michael Jaconi is the Co-Founder and CEO of Button, the mobile commerce technology company that is powering a commerce driven internet. Button,

ranked the number one company to work for in NYC by Crain's, has 100 employees and is based in the financial district. Prior to founding Button, Jaconi formerly served as the CEO of Rakuten Loyalty and Executive Officer of parent company Rakuten. Jaconi helped build the business that would become Rakuten Loyalty as a startup and led it through the acquisition by Rakuten - and drove the business to tens of millions in revenue in less than two years. Jaconi also led Rakuten’s $100M investment in Pinterest, helping bolster Rakuten’s position as one of the most innovative and aggressive global internet companies. Prior to his tenure at Rakuten, Jaconi co-founded two marketing and technology companies and has been a lifelong entrepreneur. Jaconi is also a lifelong waterman - having been raised on boats and in the water in Southern California - his father's side of the family are all fisherman - and if Mike isn't in the office or at home with his family, he is likely surfing, paddling, fishing, or on his boat with his wife and their two kids.

Alik Hinckson
Treasurer

Alik Hinckson is the CFO of the World Resources Institute, a global research organization that turns ideas into action at the nexus of environment,

economic opportunity and human well-being. Alik also teaches at Columbia University and consults to non-profits on strategy and financial planning. He additionally serves as on the board of New City Parks, is a strategic advisor to KlimaDAO, and CommonShare, and is on the board of advisors of the Pace University Lubin School of Business Leadership Program. Prior to joining WRI, Alik served as the CFO of the Rainforest Alliance, Pact Global and Prep for Prep. He has held leadership positions at the IRC, ICAP and Columbia University, and started his career at Deloitte.

 

Valerie Blanks

Valerie Blanks is a former litigator and current Manager of Private Clients at Henley & Partners.  Prior to joining Henley, Valerie practiced structured

finance and antitrust litigation for several white-glove, corporate law firms, and was most notably a member of the litigation team that successfully sued 24 of the world's largest banks involved in the 2008 U.S. financial crisis.  A graduate of Columbia Law School, Ms. Blanks recently received her LL.M. in Estate Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law.  Over the years, Ms. Blanks has served on the Boards and been a Special Patron of the Young Collectors Council at the Guggenheim Museum, the Apollo Circle at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Contemporary Friends of the Studio Museum of Harlem, and the Young Patrons of Lincoln Center.  She has also been an active member of the New York State Bar Association, the Metropolitan Black Bar Association and has recently been inducted into the membership of the Brooklyn Chapter of The Girl Friends, Inc.  In her spare time Valerie likes to snowboard and cycle, as well as spend time on any beach that will have her.

Ashley Bradley

Ashley Bradley is a historic preservationist and interior designer working in New York City and Long Island. Formerly a financial services

executive, she has recently founded her own firm, Ashley Bradley Interiors, to focus on creative endeavors, and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in the Graduate School for Planning and the Environment at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Ashley lived in Manhattan for the past 20 years, but since moving to the Brooklyn waterfront with her husband and three children two years ago, has become passionate about the importance of the New York Harbor as a vital resource for the city. Ashley graduated magna cum laude from Denison University with a bachelor’s degree in history and received an MBA from the Leonard Stern School of Business with a concentration in finance.

Donald P. Garber

Donald P. Garber is an American sports executive who has served as the Commissioner of Major League Soccer since 1999. Garber is also the CEO of

Soccer United Marketing and a member of the United States Soccer Federation board of directors. Garber has spent his entire career in the sports industry, working in a variety of capacities in marketing, events, television, and league administration prior to becoming MLS commissioner. Before joining MLS, Garber was with the National Football League for 16 years. Under his leadership, MLS has experienced sustained growth in size and popularity in the United States and Canada. During his tenure, MLS has expanded from 10 to 30 teams and set records for attendance and broadcast revenue. MLS ranks seventh among global soccer leagues in average game attendance. Garber has been selected by SportsBusiness Journal as one of the sports industry's most powerful executives every year since 2005. In 2018, he was 16th on the list. In 2016, SportsBusiness Journal presented MLS with its award for League of the Year. In May 2019, Garber was named the Sports Business Journal Executive of the Year. Garber has received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from both Montclair State University and the State University of New York. He was also inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at his alma mater, SUNY Oneonta. Garber was elected into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2016, but deferred his enshrinement until 2018. Garber grew up in a second generation Jewish family. His mother's parents were socialists from Russia; his father's were Orthodox Jews from Poland. Garber's mother worked as a nursery school teacher and Garber's father as an accountant. He grew up in Queens, New York, during the 1960s and 1970s. In 2007, Garber formed MLS WORKS, the league's community outreach initiative, dedicated to addressing important social issues affecting young people throughout the United States and Canada.

Thomas A. Kligerman

Thomas A. Kligerman grew up on the East Coast but spent his high school years living in New Mexico. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Columbia

University and his Master of Architecture from Yale School of Architecture. Before co-founding Ike Kligerman Barkley, Tom worked for Robert A. M. Stern Architects in New York City. He loves to travel and has lived abroad in England and France. In 2017, he spent six weeks in Italy as a Visiting Scholar at The American Academy in Rome. Tom serves on the board of several charitable and educational institutions, including The Sir John Soane’s Museum Foundation. Tom lectures frequently across the country on many topics including the cultural and architectural history of Cuba, the influence of the Shingle Style in American design as well as the intersection of modern and traditional architecture.

 

Ben Leventhal

Ben Leventhal has spent the last 20 years imagining and building the future of hospitality technology. He is the co-founder and former CEO of Resy,

the software and content company acquired by American Express in 2019. Twice under his leadership Resy was named one of Fast Company's "Most Innovative Companies," in 2017 and again in 2019. Previously, Ben co-founded and led Eater.com, the award-winning food and restaurant digital media company. An entrepreneur, strategist, investor and tastemaker, Ben continues to work with chefs, restaurant brands, hospitality companies and technology startups around the world.  With Blackbird, Ben is excited to build the next great hospitality platform connecting restaurants and diners through the power of cutting edge technology.

Jorge Madrazo Gonzalez

Jorge Madrazo Gonzalez is a financial service professional and long-time sustainability advocate. Currently, he is Head of Strategy for BlackRock’s business in Latin America,

where he is responsible for overseeing and driving the firm’s strategy and priorities across the region in partnership with country and business teams. Jorge has extensive experience across strategy and business transformation, with prior leadership roles at TD Bank and Monitor Deloitte. In parallel to his work in the private services sector, Jorge founded a research organization dedicated to fostering innovation and promoting best practices in sustainability and socially responsible investing through partnerships with leading non-profit and academic institutions. He has co-authored and contributed to numerous publications on inclusive green growth and development finance. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia (UBC) and the London School of Economics (LSE). Jorge has lived in eight different countries in the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East. He resides in New York City and is passionate about history and finding ways to deepen the connection between nature and the city.

Brian Owens

Brian Owens, a native of Bayside, Queens with Irish familial roots and a legacy in both hospitality and fishing, has established himself as a notable

restaurateur in Manhattan, particularly known for the acclaimed Crave Fishbar. With a knack for identifying culinary trends and an educational background in Accounting from Hofstra University, he bravely opened his first venture, Gallery Lounge at The Gershwin Hotel, at just 24. Owens not only recovered from a devastating crane accident in 2008 that forced his business to close but also triumphantly reopened as Crave Fishbar in Midtown East in 2012, further expanding to the UWS in 2015. His establishments are recognized for their commitment to sustainability as the first NYC restaurant partner of the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch Program, and earning statuses like Certified B Corp and charter member of the James Beard Foundation's Smart Catch Program. Moreover, Brian's dedication extends to philanthropic efforts, notably raising over $190,000 for Bike MS NYC in support of his sister and multiple sclerosis research, earning him the 2022 A Partner In MS award from the National MS Society. His journey blends culinary business acumen with a strong commitment to ethical practices and community involvement.

Alex Pincus

Alex is an architect, restaurateur, and waterman, who in partnership with his brother Miles, has created a celebrated enterprise operating at the intersection

of the maritime and restaurant industries. He is CEO of Ocean LLC, a holding company with subsidiaries operating across multiple sectors, but most widely known for their work in the restaurant world. In the words of CNN, “Restaurateurs Alex and Miles Pincus have changed the way New Yorkers drink and eat by tapping into the city's waterfronts and creating scenes where you can enjoy the tranquility of being on the water.” Their award-winning restaurants include Grand Banks (New York, NY), Seaworthy (New Orleans, LA), Pilot (Brooklyn, NY) and Island Oyster (Governors Island, NY) as well as the forthcoming Marine Co. 7 (Brooklyn, NY).

 

Kabir Singh

Kabir Singh is a finance professional with over 20 years of experience in global equity markets. He is currently the Head Trader at Sachem Head

Capital Management, a NYC based investment firm, a position he has held since the firm’s inception in 2013. Kabir graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis. He has been actively involved in the BOP since being introduced to the organization in 2016. Kabir lives in Brooklyn with his wife and their three children.

Elliot H. Steelman

Elliot H. Steelman serves as Vice President, Head of Employee Relations, at New York Life Insurance Company. Elliot is an experienced attorney and

business advisor with over a decade of global law firm and in-house experience. Madeline Wachtel

Maddy Wachtel works on urban resiliency and farming initiatives, both on land and in water. She is an ambassador for SmartOysters, a

software company dedicated to helping ocean farmers manage and scale their businesses. On land, Maddy is turning an old tennis club into a flower farm and event space in Chappaqua, NY called Bloomcourt. From 2015-2020 Maddy worked for Billion Oyster Project, ultimately serving as Deputy Director. She received her Bachelors in Hospitality from Cornell University and will receive her Masters in Food Systems from NYU this spring.

Matthew Wilson

Matthew Wilson is a Senior Partner in McKinsey’s New York office, where he has spent the last 16 years. He works broadly across healthcare,

Brad Burnham

Brad Burnham is a managing partner at Union Square Ventures. He started working in information technology with

AT&T in 1979. Brad spun Echo Logic out of Bell Laboratories in 1989 and joined AT&T Ventures in 1993. Brad co-founded TACODA in 2001 before joining Fred to create Union Square Ventures in 2003. Brad majored in political science at Wesleyan University. He is married with two kids and lives in New York City.

Jayni Chase

Acting on the belief that positive environmental change must begin with the education of our children, Jayni Chase founded the Center for

Environmental Education in 1988 and authored Blueprint for a Green School, published by Scholastic in 1995. She is the Founding Chair of the GREEN Community Schools initiative. Jayni was awarded an honorary masters degree in Environmental Studies from Antioch New England Graduate School and has received a number of prestigious awards including: Audubon Women in Conservation Award, Connie Award from the National Wildlife Federation and the Audubon Connecticut Environmental Leadership Award.

Murray Fisher

Murray Fisher is the creator of The Urban Assembly New York Harbor School and Billion Oyster Project.

Murray has spent his entire professional career working to make the waters surrounding New York City cleaner, more abundant, more well-known, more well-loved, and accessible to every young person. This effort started after Vanderbilt University through an AmeriCorps job at Hudson Riverkeeper and continued at Waterkeeper Alliance. But it began in earnest in 2002 when he created the Harbor School. After seven years as the school's Program Director, Murray became the Executive Director of the New York Harbor Foundation where he supported the Harbor School, oversaw two renovations for the school, and created the Billion Oyster Project.

Kate Orff

Kate Orff is the founder and principal of SCAPE Landscape Architecture. She focuses on applying landscape architecture to mitigate the effects of

climate change and address issues of environmental and social justice. Kate was the first winner of the MacArthur Genius Award / Fellowship in the field of Landscape Architecture (awarded in 2017). In addition to running SCAPE, Kate is Director of Columbia University GSAPP’s Urban Design Program and an Associate Professor. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Political and Social Thought from the University of Virginia and earned a Master in Landscape Architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University.

Ryan Albelda

Ryan is a graduate of Northwestern University, where she studied Industrial Engineering and Environmental Science. Currently an engineer at Amazon.com,

she relocated to New York City after spending a few years in Seattle. Ryan’s work is focused on international coordination. Her role consists of working to reduce carbon emissions for international freight. She has experience with working with carbon emissions and waste resulting from maritime shipping. When not working, Ryan loves volunteering in her community, something she has found to be a big part of her life for the past 10 years. She has done work with many different food banks and many led trash pick up efforts. Working to have a clean planet with less waste, trash, and pollution sparked her interest in the Billion Oyster Project. In her free time she likes to golf and read.

Gabriela Alemán

Gabriela is pursuing a career in empowering scalable solutions that mitigate climate change. In 2020, she joined the food waste platform, Too

Good To Go, helping the European-based company to launch in several major U.S. markets. She currently works from Too Good To Go's New York office, focusing on U.S. strategy and expansion. Previously, she was an impact investment fellow for Kiva in Latin America and she continues to consult for small businesses in Latin America as a Nest Economic Empowerment Network Expert. Gabriela began her career at J.P. Morgan in London and New York, working on sustainable investment portfolios within the Endowments and Foundations Private Banking group. Gabriela attended Boston College majoring in international studies, and is a polyglot native New Yorker. Her interests include circular food systems and regenerative aquaculture.

Rishav Dey

Tommy Butschi

Tommy Butschi grew up in Tyler, Texas, and made his way to NYC after college. Tommy is the Sustainability Analyst at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, LLP,

a leading international law firm, where he is responsible for setting and realizing the firm's sustainability targets. Through work and volunteering, Tommy focuses on conservation of both marine and land environments.

Rishav Dey serves as the Director of Growth Analytics at FuboTV, a sports focussed TV streaming service. Prior to that, he led the Insights team at the Wall

Street Journal where he also served as one of the leads oftheir DEI group. Originally from New Delhi, India by the way of North Carolina where he attended North Carolina State University for Applied Math before moving to New York City in 2015, Rishav is extremely passionate about environmental causes especially those focussed on water conservation and aquatic life. He is a strong advocate for using education at the grassroots level and building efficient processes to further the goals of the Billion Oyster Project. In his free time, Rishav serves as one of officers for New York United, a soccer club based out of Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 5 and enjoys attending happy hours around the city with his friends.

 

Andrew Dzenis

Andrew has spent his entire life on the water. At age 12, he held his first job as a mate on charter fishing vessels in Montauk, NY. Andrew continued to work

on the boats every summer until graduating college, and still, at the age of 28, works trips whenever his schedule allows. Additionally, Andrew fishes off his parents home on City Island in the Western Long Island Sound, where he often finds himself cleaning the shorelines and flipping rocks looking for oyster life. Andrew has read every book on the Marine ecology of NY Harbor and could not be more passionate about BOP's mission. Professionally, Andrew is a Managing Director at JLL's New York Office. Andrew's team leads the nonprofit, education and government practice, where he specializes in working with a variety of institutions to help ensure their real estate meets the needs and goals of the organization's mission. Andrew also advises corporate occupiers on their real estate strategy. Andrew graduated from Franklin & Marshall College with a B.A. in Economics. In his free time, Andrew jokes that he cannot sit still; he'll likely be on the water, hiking, biking, or playing ice hockey at Chelsea Piers.

Brianna Ferrante is an associate attorney at Lowenstein Sandler LLP, where her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity

investments, as well as advising both public and early-stage companies on governance and compliance matters. Committed to pro bono work, Brianna routinely advises New York and New Jersey based nonprofits, as well as low-income entrepreneurs and founders, on transactional legal matters. She also represents individuals in non-contested guardianship proceedings and actively volunteers with the New York Junior League. Having grown up on Staten Island, Brianna looks forward to working with the Billion Oyster Project on its mission to improve the New York Harbor’s water quality and restore the area’s native marine life. Brianna received her J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law, where she also completed an externship at Erskine Chambers in London and clerked for a federal judge. She holds a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from Monmouth University and is an alumna of Notre Dame Academy. In her spare time, Brianna enjoys trying new restaurants, travelling, yoga and scuba diving..

Lucy Fey is a New York transplant by way of the west coast. She works in tech, specializing in client education and onboarding. Lucy is passionate

about sustainability and reducing food insecurity within the greater NYC area. In her free time she can be found at a museum, doing hot yoga, and eating oysters.

A native of Canada, Nicholas Fulford is passionate about the outdoors and preserving natural spaces. Nicholas believes that all New Yorkers should

benefit from access to the outdoors and that green spaces need to be cared for and invested in. He spends much of his free time running in and enjoying Central Park. A periodic swimmer in the Hudson (NYC Triathlon), Nicholas has a deeply vested interest in seeing it get cleaner and cleaner. Nicholas is a graduate of Queen’s University at Kingston, and now works at Deloitte, where he leads a Strategy and Corporate Development team covering Deloitte’s Tax and Legal businesses.

 

Graham Helgans

Graham works for JEGI CLARITY where he advises media and technology companies on sell-side mergers and acquisitions. Prior to JEGI, Graham

worked for the strategy consulting firm, Promontory Financial Group, splitting his time between New York and Copenhagen. A resident of both coasts, Graham spent most of his childhood living in Connecticut, taking advantage of his proximity to the Long Island Sound for sailing, swimming and paddle boarding. Graham is a graduate of Washington and Lee University where he studied Accounting and Business.

Kate Larkin

Madi is on the investment team at Hangar, a firm that funds and builds technology companies solving public sector market challenges at scale,

where she conducts traditional venture diligence as well as operational and platform support for scaling portfolio companies. Prior to Hangar, she spent time at Tech:NYC, working at the intersection of technology policy and industry, engaging public and private stakeholders, and working to ensure innovation and civic action evolved in tandem. Madi has conducted research for IBM on ethical implications of AI, and has previously worked for the U.S. State Department as a program assistant with the Office of Foreign Missions, and with the diplomatic and consular affairs team of the New York City Mayor's Office for International Affairs at the United Nations. Born and raised in Seattle, you can often find her alongside the waters of either coast: sailing, running, and swimming. A now self-proclaimed New Yorker, she completed a dual B.A. and M.I.A. at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs.

Charles Kowalczyk is an Associate on the investment team at Bonaccord Capital Partners, a private equity firm focusing on middle-market GP stakes.

Prior to BCP, Charles worked on the M&A and Corporate Strategy team at Neuberger Berman. A native of upstate New York, he graduated from Cornell University in 2019 with a degree in Policy and Economics and spent two years in management consulting before moving to investment management. Charles has always been passionate about sustainability, education, and New York City, and is excited to bring those interests together at the Billion Oyster Project. He also serves on the Young Alumni Council at Cornell University’s College of Human Ecology and as a volunteer career mentor with Streetwise Partners. In his free time, Charles enjoys running and biking throughout NYC, snowboarding, and finding the best food the city has to offer.

Kate Larkin is the Assistant to the Directors at DC Moore Gallery, which specializes in contemporary and twentieth-century art. She graduated

cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Art History from Boston College in 2018. She grew up exploring the Long Island Sound, and when she is not busy with all things art, she can be found out on the water.

 

Kate Larkin

Kate was raised in Southeastern Connecticut surrounded by the picturesque Long Island Sound and came to understand the significance of

oysters in sustaining the delicate ecology. She came across the Billion Oyster Project’s profound impact and is excited to contribute to its mission. Kate is on the Client Services and Investor Relations team at Millennium Management and holds a BBA in Economics from Baruch College. In addition to the Billion Oyster Project, Kate is involved with The New York Foundling and enjoys volunteering her time to help her New York City community.

Brandon Levine

Cindy Li

Brandon graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. After graduating, he moved to New York

City and began working at Masterworks, a startup at the intersection of finance and the art world. Brandon enjoys spending time paddle boarding, visiting art museums, and trying new restaurants.

Cindy is a Manager at Deloitte Consulting in NYC. As an avid scuba diver, she has seen first-hand the impacts of climate change and pollution

on the coral reefs and marine life. She is passionate about creating sustainable built environments. At Deloitte, she works with clients to optimize their global real estate portfolios, reducing their costs and carbon footprints. Previously, she worked in public sector consulting and international trade policy and worked with a real estate developer building walkable cities. Cindy holds an MBA/MA from the Wharton/Lauder program at UPenn, where she majored in Real Estate (MBA) and International Studies in East and Southeast Asia (MA).

Lu Limanowski

Originally from downtown Chicago, Lu moved to New York City to attend New York University where she studied an individualized program in business and

media. Since graduating in 2021, she has worked at talent agency William Morris Endeavor in their Comedy Touring department, and previously interned with the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Cinematic Music Group, Milk Studios, and others. She has always been passionate about sustainability and education, having previously worked with the Illinois Attorney General's Office and Planned Parenthood to develop educational resources, and also working alongside organizations within her university to implement more environmentally sustainable policies. Ultimately, having always lived close to water, she looks forward to collaborating with the Billion Oyster Project to bring together her passions for community work and the city of New York. In her free time, you can find her studying jazz guitar, playing squash, or making custom playlists.

Emily Rudder

Emily Rudder is a Seattle native who works at the intersection of media and advocacy to drive social change. She has worked on award-winning

restaurants in Nantucket  and New York City, campaigns focused on advancing global health, water conservation, environmental justice and refugee rights. Emily graduated from Brown University with a concentration in Urban Studies.

 

Buford Reid

Buford grew up in New York before joining Harris Williams, where he worked as an Analyst on the Aerospace, Defense, and Government Services

team, advising on various sell-side M&A deals. He spent many summers working on the Fishers Island Oyster Farm, where he developed a deep appreciation for oysters and conservation. While working on the FI Oyster Farm, he founded an oyster shucking business, Summer Shuckers. Buford graduated from the University of Richmond in 2022, majoring in Business Administration with a Finance Concentration and a History Minor.

Olivia Massey

Olivia studied Environmental Engineering and Energy studies at MIT and she also holds an MBA from Columbia Business School. She works

in strategy consulting focusing on ESG strategy at Bain & Company New York.

Ruby Spitz

Rae Specht

Rae works in Grants Management at Bloomberg Philanthropies. She graduated from Cornell University in 2022, where she focused on Urban

and Regional Studies and English Literature. Previously, she served as the Executive Director of Friends of Bellport Bay, a Long Island-based shellfish restoration nonprofit that has planted over 3 million oysters in the Great South Bay to date.

Ruby Spitz works as a consultant for FactSet Research Systems. In 2022, she graduated from Santa Clara University, where she studied economics,

data analytics, anthropology, and sustainability. Growing up in New Hampshire fostered her love of the outdoors and of skiing, mountain biking, and hiking. Appreciation for the outdoors has shown up in various ways throughout her life, including a high school semester at the Island School, where she studied conservation and sustainability; a gap-year stint in Morocco, where she became a certified surf instructor; a leadership role in the Outdoors Club at SCU, where she guided fellow students on coastal and mountain adventures; and a summer working on an organic farm in Vermont. Ruby is excited to contribute her enthusiasm for the natural world, sustainability, and New York City to the Billion Oyster Project. In her free time, you can find her cooking, training for a half marathon, and enjoying early morning walks through the city..

 

Samantha White

Samantha works as a ML Solutions Engineer in AI observability at Arize AI. Sammy obtained her Master’s degree in Data Science from Syracuse University

and her Bachelor’s degree in Statistics ,from the University of Delaware. She grew up hiking and skiing in the mountains near her childhood home in Massachusetts and enjoys traveling whenever she can to discover new outdoor adventures. Sammy’s love of nature fuels her passion for environmental sustainability. She loves exploring new places and is always looking for the next best sushi restaurant.

 

Andrew Wu

Andrew is a firm believer in Billion Oyster Project’s mission. He’s always been passionate about the ocean and has fond childhood memories exploring

local beaches and learning about wildlife in New Jersey. Today, he is the founder of Nori’s Story, creators of the original Hero Sauce—a delicious, umami, and perfectly spicy all-purpose condiment that features sea lettuce. Similar to oysters, sea lettuce filters excess nutrients and sequesters carbon from the oceans. Through Nori’s Story, it’s his mission to introduce delicious, innovative, and sustainable foods to the U.S. mainstream. When he’s not working, Andrew loves listening to music, reading up on the latest longevity science, cheering on Rutger’s basketball, and enjoying a dozen (or more) oysters at a local happy hour. He hopes to add swimming in the East River to his list of hobbies as soon as BOP’s mission materializes.Prior to starting Nori’s Story, Andrew was a Vice President at Onex Corporation, originating and executing private equity and credit investments. During his tenure at Onex, Andrew served as a board member and observer on select company boards, including BEL USA, Frontsteps, Heatonist, and others. Prior to Onex, Andrew worked at Golub Capital, where he underwrote unitranche, mezzanine, and equity investments. Andrew began his career in investment banking as an analyst at MUFG Americas in the Sponsor & Leveraged Finance Group, and at CIT Group in the Leveraged Finance Group. Andrew received his B.S. in Finance and Economics from Rutgers University.

Willie Young

Will believes that New Yorkers have a shared responsibility in investing and maintaining our outdoor spaces. He spends his free time exploring new

restaurants, enjoying NYC's many parks, and playing tennis. As an advocate of Billion Oyster Project's mission, he understands that educating the public on the connection between our food and local community will lead to better care of our natural spaces. Professionally, Will is a management consultant within PwC's Advisory Transformation practice helping auto and home insurance companies modernize their systems and UI. This makes it easier to deliver new products, offer better customer service, and for customers to confidently understand their coverage.
